The regulatory framework creates the market environment within which ASISA’s members conduct business. The policy maker and regulator utilise the regulatory framework to control, direct or manage an activity, organisation or system. Regulation should not create an unfair burden on member organisations, place inappropriate constraints on the growth and development of member organisations or adversely affect the sustainability of member organisations.

ASISA strategic theme – Market Operation

The objective is to provide investors and members in the South African investment and savings market with the most efficient and effective market infrastructure. This includes technical and operational processes, procedures and controls relating to the market infrastructures utilised by ASISA’s members. These relate to investment instruments, life office products and collective investment schemes. The aim will be achieved by eliminating as much of the operational and systemic risk in the primary and secondary markets as possible through standardisation and implementing the appropriate market controls to manage any residual risk in market processes.
